DJ Neptune Explains Himself As Laycon Calls Him Out for Defrauding Him On The ‘Nobody’ Icons Remix. “I Did Not Eat Laycon’s Money, He Lied”

The most popular winner from the Big Brother Naija show, Laycon, who won the Season 5 edition of BBNaija, called DJ Neptune out for not paying him for the ‘Nobody (Icons Remix)’ song that the renowned disc jockey featured him in. DJ Neptune has come out to deny defrauding Laycon, calling the BBNaija raving sensation a liar in the process.

While in the Big Brother house, Olamilekan “Laycon” Agbeleshe, rose above initial mockery and discrimination from the housemates and viewers alike, distinguishing himself from his peers with his superior wisdom and seductive musical skills.

Still a housemate, his song “Awa Fierce” started trending all over Africa, garnering him the love and unalloyed loyalty of both BBN enthusiasts and those who were never keen on the reality show.

Towards the end of the show, he was already a national sensation all by himself, a gifted rapper, and an alluring musician. The trending momentum around Laycon set him leagues above other housemates and saw him win with the highest recorded votes ever witnessed in BBNaija, completely distancing himself from the runner-up, Dorathy Bachor, by a wide margin.

After the season ended, it was a no-brainer that A-list Nigerian musicians who showed support for him started featuring him in their music. Among them was DJ Neptune, who did a remix of his street anthem “Nobody” with Laycon and Joeboy, tagging it “Nobody (Icons Remix).”

“Icons” was the name given to all fans of Laycon in Africa.

The remix blew up as expected, propelling Laycon’s musical career even further than he had imagined.

Four years later, a dent has appeared in the whole success story.

Laycon came out to cry on his X platform that DJ Neptune hasn’t paid him for the Nobody (Icons Remix) song they did in the last four years. He tagged DJ Neptune and Mr. Eazi’s record label, where Joeboy is currently signed. Here’s his callout of DJ Neptune:

DJ Neptune wasn’t pleased with this outburst at all because it portrayed him to the public as one who defrauded a promising, upcoming musician. He finally cleared the air in an interview, saying:

“Shout out to Laycon, he’s my brother regardless. Let me just establish here that nobody ate anybody’s money. I want to believe that you’ve knowledge of the music business. When you have a deal with a Distro company or a label and you’re being given advanced marketing money to push the music, the video, or whatnot. They’ve to recoup. It’s a return on investment.

“So that’s where we are with ‘Nobody Icons Remix’. What Laycon is fighting for is the documentation. In all fairness to him, he reached out to me. So it wasn’t like anyone was cheating anyone. When Laycon reached out to me, I referred to my legal team. I even asked him for his lawyer’s contact which he sent to me and I forwarded it to them.

“I’m not a legal personnel. I’m a creative. I have to perform and take care of my family. So I’ve put this in the hands of people that will handle it. And then there was a conversation that was ongoing [between our lawyers]. So I guess, maybe my own fault was not going back to find out what was going on. But a certain percentage was proposed to Laycon’s team and they kicked back at it. And the conversation was just there.”
