Everybody knows that the Oluremi Tinubu Hostel is dedicated to the First Lady, but not everyone knows that Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is an illustrious alumna of the Great Ife, OAU.
In the early hours of this morning, a spectacular ceremony that turned heads and captured hearts, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, unveiled a breathtaking golden statue of Senator Tinubu at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).
This event also marked the inauguration of a 2.7km Senator Oluremi Tinubu Way and a beautiful pavilion on campus, both generously donated by the Ooni.
Oba Ogunwusi the Arólè Ódúdúwá lauded Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to education and women’s empowerment. As reported by the Punch Newspaper, He appreciated her with kind words and mentioned, “A golden statue is erected to immortalize her virtuous personality and to showcase the strength of a teacher, mother, and wife at the very heart of OAU.”
The Ooni emphasized that the largest hostel and pavilion in OAU’s history symbolize her efforts in creating spaces for learning and empowerment. Senator Tinubu pledged a staggering N1 billion donation for the university’s horticultural landscaping project, further cementing her legacy.
As an alumna who earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from the then University of Ife, Senator Tinubu’s journey from a student to a First Lady will serve as an inspiration to many. This event not only celebrates her achievements but also reinforces the importance of education in shaping future leaders.
