Christianah Idowu, the jolly 21-year-old 300-level student of Pure and Applied Botany at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), who was callously murdered allegedly by Ayomide Adeleye was buried at the Sabo Ikorodu Cemetery in Lagos.
Family, and friends, gathered to pay their last respects and mourn the the tragic loss of a life cut short.
Christianah, who just celebrated her 21st birthday in June news kidnapped on August 19th while she was on her way to the University Of Lagos (UNILAG) where she was doing her Industrial training.
Ayomide Adeleye, a 23-year-old student of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) who allegedly killed her, had been demanding a ransom of N3 Million for her release.
Upon receiving N350,000, Adeleye stopped communicating and murdered Christian, burning her in a shallow grave in his family’s house.
Men of the Nigerian Army apprehended Adeleye at his parent’s residence in Ikorodu. During his arrest he confessed to killing Christianah and led the authorities to her grave.
As her loved ones gathered to lay her to rest, the pain and anguish were visible on their faces. She has been an energetic young woman who has dreams and aspirations, but her life was cut short by the act of a wicked sociopath. Nigerians are commemorating with her parents and loved ones.
In the wake of this heart-wrenching loss, I am sure justice will be served and measures will be taken to prevent such dastardly crimes from occurring. Christianah Idowu’s memory will be honored with a commitment to creating a safer society for our women.
