After three days of detention, Speed Darlington is finally free! The controversial rapper, who is for his bold statements and humor, was arrested last week in Lagos following comments he made about Burna Boy’s Grammy win
In a viral video, he jokingly questioned whether Diddy who was arrested for sexual exploitation and child trafficking had any influence on Burna Boy’s success, implying that Burna Boy had sexual relations with Diddy for his Grammy success.
His mother, the Queen, had pleaded for help on social media, expressing her fears for her son’s safety. Nigerians please come and help me, my son, Speed Darlington has been missing for over four days now after he made a video about Burna Boy and Diddy.
“Burna Boy came to his house with his squad and police and they arrested Akpi. Please, Nigerians, Akpi is my only son. Please, Nigerians help me and beg Burna Boy to release my son,”.
Activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju stepped in, confirming that Burna Boy had filed a petition for Cyberbullying against Speed Darlington. He tweeted this against the detention of Speed Darlington”You can’t sing against oppressors and still be an oppressor,” Adeyanju tweeted, condemning the suppression of free speech in Nigeria.
Finally, after relentless efforts from Adeyanju and the help of his team, Speed Darlington was released.
