Gone are the days when people hoped to find their significant other at physical events. Nowadays, some of our celebs have gotten the best spouse they could find on social media, with a single DM sparking off a chain of conversations that led to marriage.
Among these couples are musicians, actresses, comedians, and show presenters. Let’s take a sneak peek at how they got to know each other.
Simi and Adekunle Gold
Simi alleged that Adekunle Gold chased her down Facebook while seeking her attention. At the time, she was a gospel singer and Adekunle Gold wasn’t the popular musician he is today.
For a time, Simi neither saw nor replied to Adekunle Gold’s message. When she did reply, she admitted that she thought he was a fan because his Facebook account was branded as “King of Photoshop.”
Vowing never to marry a singer like herself, Simi never knew that Adekunle Gold was also a musician because he hadn’t revealed that side of himself yet.
Apparently, Adekunle Gold had silently been listening to her gospel songs and decided to send her a message on Facebook, and that’s how they got together.

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and Cynthia
Ebuka, the famed host of Big Brother Naija, revealed that he met his wife on Twitter after they followed each other.
They eventually exchanged a few messages and proceeded to become friends. There was no attraction to each other at this time, but after conversing with Cynthia for a while and getting a feel of her cheerful disposition and values that resonated with him, Ebuka knew within two months that he had to keep her for himself.
Banky W and Adesua Etomi-Wellington
Adesua shared that she met Banky W at an event in 2015 when the musician approached her and requested to be her friend.
Immediately Banky W set his gaze on her, he knew that he would be her biggest fan, no matter what happens.
Without wasting time, he slid into Adesua’s DM and crafted a really hilarious message that got the cute actress completely cracked up. At the time, Adesua informed Banky that she wasn’t ready for a relationship or anything like that, and she preferred that they be friends first.
Banky W respected her decision and continued to water the bonds of friendship with her for a year and a half before they decided to proceed into the realms of dating.
Willams Uchemba and Brunella Oscar
Brunella watched a video of the actor and comedian, Williams Uchemba, on social media and decided to send him a DM after hearing a voice that said, “This is my husband.”
On the afternoon of November 23, 2016, Williams Uchemba replied to her and asked to know where she came from.
After answering his question, Williams remarked, “I am from that state your mother doesn’t want you to marry from.”
The intensity of their conversation spiked up as he gave her his number and asked that she message him on WhatsApp.
That same night, they got on a WhatsApp video call and bonded instantly, so much so that it became a slippery late-night norm that pushed them down the path of marriage.
